The International Business major uses an interdisciplinary approach to study the intricacies of the international marketplace. This major focuses on the complexities and interconnections between the world's markets and cultures. The goal is to prepare students to be managers in the twenty-first century.
There is a Foreign Language emphasis and a General Business emphasis
within the international business major. Students accepted
into the international business program are advised by the international
business coordinator and faculty.
- Completed Math 1302 College Algebra and Rhet 1312 Composition
II with a grade of “C” or better and
- Have a minimum of 2.25 overall GPA (at UALR or from transferring
school) or
- Have a minimum of 2.25 on the most recently completed 15 hours
at UALR
- Without being officially admitted to the College of Business,
students may take all business courses (except the capstone MGMT
4380) as long as all prerequisites have been met. Please check
current catalog for prerequisite requirements.
You must be admitted to the College of Business to receive an official
degree plan.
Graduation Requirements: 2.0 in overall GPA, 2.0
in Minor, and 2.0 in Major. C or better earned in all Major courses.

- Understand the major trends in the international trade and investment patterns between and among the major groups of nations and the theories purporting to explain the patterns.
- Understand the nature of international organizations such as the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organization, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and their effects on business.
- Understand the major financial, economic/socioeconomic, physical, environmental, sociocultural, political, legal, labor, competitive, and distributive forces affecting affecting international business.
- Understand the export and import practices, terminology, and documentation.
- Understand the functional areas of business economics, marketing, human resources, finance, operations, and control of international business.
